Before there was the Sex and the City flick...

The whole palaver about Sex and the City making a comeback in movie form has got me thinking about my favourite episodes.
In fact, it has got me pulling out my old faves from my DVD collection and dusting ‘em off.
I had forgotten the lasses of SATC for awhile there, but now they are back in my life again (and they will always be at the back of my mind, at least in mindset).
My all-time fave episode? It’s called “A Change Of A Dress”, if I recall correctly. Its main plot? The break-up of Aidan and Carrie – for the second and final time.
OK, the bit about Carrie getting hives, in the eppy, from a poufy wedding dress and her having to pull it off – ripping its buttons and all – is a bit unbelievable. I always think: “So, who paid for the ruined wedding dress, which ended up outside a dumpster near a food store?” Woulda set Carrie back thousands – and she is usually in debt to her eyeballs paying off designer shoes. OK, so that bit is not the heart-tugging part…
Nope, it’s the bit where Aidan asks Carrie to marry him then and there, by a fountain, after a black-and-white ball – Carrie appropriately, thus, is in a white frock. And, yup, it gets my heart racing. (C’mon – all you girls know this eppy – admit it!)
There’s the look of hurt when Aidan realises Carrie ain’t never going to marry him – a Big problem. Carrie looks confused and scared.
I love the musical box-type music, which plays when Aidan and Carrie have a Big argument and sleep in other rooms that night. (If anyone has the soundtrack of this, please let me know!) Carrie then tiptoes in to lie next to Aidan and you think all is well again. However, her voiceover then says that was the last time they slept together and Aidan moved his things out the next day. Ouch. Reality – with a bite.
For some reason, I find these final scenes really touching – after all, who doesn’t relate to being caught between a Mr Nice Guy and a Bad Ex??– and I can’t help but play that particular eppy again and again.
Bring on the movie, I say!!!
